My Minds i

Touring from the Highlanes Gallery Drogheda, My Minds I is a solo exhibition by one of Ireland's most important artists. Small fragile sculptures are juxtaposed with backdrops and a heightened lighting scheme where a mysterious theatrical world with unfold.
The first large-scale exhibition of the influential Irish artist in five years, My Minds i is an Arts Council of Ireland touring exhibition, which was first shown at the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda in 2015 before travelling to the Butler Gallery, Kilkenny, Wexford Arts Centre and the F.E. McWilliam Gallery.
My Minds i will introduce Janet’s highly imaginative and thought-provoking work to a new audience in Northern Ireland. Although her work is regularly included in the Royal Ulster Academy and in exhibitions at the Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast, Janet’s last solo show in Northern Ireland was at the Orchard Gallery in 1992. The collection of sculpture, installation and works on paper are all recent creations or new commissions made for the exhibition.
My Minds i is a striking visualisation of the artist’s sub-conscious mind where a collection of strange and fascinating sculptures stand alone on large open spaces juxtaposed with backdrops and a heightened lighting scheme designed by Marcus Costello. .
