Accessibility

The F.E. McWilliam Gallery is a fully accessible building.  The gallery has won an award from the William Keown Trust in recognition of their contribution to an accessible user-friendly building.

  • The exterior of the building has two dedicated parking spaces for blue badges holders. There are ramps for those approaching from the other end of the car park and automatic doors upon entrance to the building.
  • The gallery space, reception area, cafe and garden all are fitted with automatic doors and push to open doors which have braille for the partially sighted and blind.  The desks in the tourist information and cafe have been lowered to make them more accessible.
  • The building is all on the ground floor and there is easy access throughout.  There are ramps that lead down to the garden and studio.
  • There is a wheelchair kept behind reception for anyone who may wish to avail of it.
  • There is an accessible toilet with good facilities, handrails and panic botton in case of emergencies.
  • Seating, good ventilation and lighting is something that is prominent in the gallery and throughout the building.
  • There are several fully trained first-aiders on-site as well as a member of staff trained in basic sign language.
  • Guide dogs are welcome in the building.

If you require any assistance while you are here please inform a member of staff and we would be only too happy to help.
